Lions Club donates to Angel Tree

WOODVILLE –  Woodville Lions Club President Stanley Cleberg presented a $2,500 donation to the Tyler County Child Welfare Board (TCCWB) on the Thursday, Nov. 14 at the club’s regular meeting.

The donation was for TCCWB’s annual Angel Tree Program and whatever needs they may have throughout the year.

Pct. 1 Justice of the Peace Tina Self gave a great program to the Lions on the board’s work with kids throughout the year and talked about the various venues in town where anyone can help with their annual Angel Tree Program.

TCCWB supervised the work for the children and families throughout the year, and each year they raise funds that help about 300 kids each year to have a great Christmas with age-related gifts.

Many of these children have had a lot of struggles and all too often do not get much for Christmas.  No names, confidentiality first, yet all the banks and many of the city halls in Tyler County are participating. Anyone can do there and donate for a child.

An exciting day takes place at the Woodville Volunteer Fire Department when firemen and women and others gather to deliver all the carefully crafted gift packages to the kids throughout the county.

Self is president of the TCCWB and has given a Lions presentation each year on the work of TCCWB for more than two decades.

If anyone would like to donate to the TCCWB Angel Tree Program, they can also call 409-283-2503 or 409-283-3631.
