WOODVILLE – Deputies with the Tyler County Sheriff’s Office recently made an arrest of a man driving a stolen truck in the White Tail Ridge area.

According to Tyler County Sheriff Bryan Weatherford, deputies were patrolling in the area, along County Road 2175, on the night of Monday, Oct. 28 when they observed a Ford truck stopped in the middle of the roadway. The driver, whom they identified as Dennis Edward McGraw, a 45-year-old Woodville man, was found not to possess a valid driver license.

Weatherford said the deputies also observed a digital scale, as they spoke with McGraw; the type of scale typically used as drug paraphernalia.

The deputies were also notified by dispatch that the vehicle McGraw was in had been reported as stolen out of San Jacinto County.

A search of the truck turned up several items of drug paraphernalia, according to Weatherford, and McGraw was taken into custody.

“At the jail, deputies searched the back seat of their patrol unit, which is standard procedure after an arrest or inmate transport. During the search, deputies observed and recovered two clear plastic baggies from under the seat,” Weatherford said.

Those baggies contained a white crystalline substance that field-tested positive for methamphetamine, he added.

McGraw remains in custody at the Tyler County Jail. He is charged with felony possession of a controlled substance, for five grams of meth and felony unauthorized use of a vehicle. For those two charges, Pct. 1 Justice of the Peace Tina Self set his bonds at totaling $55,000. McGraw was also charged with display of a fictitious license plate.
