Woodville civic organization gives golfers chance at a cool million bucks

Posted

WILDWOOD – The Rotary Club of Woodville is hosting a golf tournament on Saturday, April 26 with its “Million Dollar Golf Tournament.”

The tournament offers a chance to win a $1 million cash prize, and will begin with a shotgun start at the Wildwood Golf Course at 8:30 a.m. Check-in is at 8 a.m.

The proceeds from the event go to the Rotary Club’s efforts at community service throughout Tyler County. Tournament directors Andrew Ireland and Rusty Minyard said the event will be the club’s primary fundraiser for the year, and the donations for sponsorships are greatly appreciated.

The format for the tournament will be teams of four players each, in a scramble format, in which the teams will play as a unit.

For the million-dollar shot, there will be four Par 3 Closest to the Pin challenges throughout the tournament. Each golfer who wins closest to the pin will get a chance to make a hole-in-one on hole #9 of the course. If the same golfer wins multiple “Closest to the Pin” challenges, then that participant will get multiple attempts, and if the shot is made, the golfer wins the $1 million prize.

If no participant makes the shot, no prize will be awarded.
