The City of Woodville places banners on utility poles throughout the city honoring military veterans from around the county.
The project is funded through sponsorships and donations which will enable the purchase and placement of banners on utility poles throughout the city.
The individual to be recognized must reside or have resided in Tyler County. Individuals must have served in any of the five branches of the armed service (Army, Navy, Air Force, Marines and Coast Guard) and must meet one of the following conditions:
•Currently be active duty
•Be an honorably discharged veteran
• Died in the line of duty
Each two-sided, 30x84 inch banner will honor a specific serviceperson and will include their name, branch of service, and photo. The cost to purchase a banner will be $150. Banners will be displayed at various locations throughout the City of Woodville in conjunction with national holidays such as Memorial Day, Flag Day, Independence Day and Veterans Day.
Placement and the exact display schedule of the banners will be at the sole discretion of the city.
Banners will be acquired from a third-party vendor and pricing for future years cannot be guaranteed. The life expectancy of the banners is unknown. Banners retired from the project will be presented to the banner sponsor. The City of Woodville is not responsible for replacing banners that are stolen, damaged, or destroyed due to vandalism, age, or any acts of nature, including high winds.
