WOODVILLE – Woodville ISD announced that Ron Zachary was named the new principal of Woodville High School.
Zachary comes to the campus with 16 years of experience and was initially hired on at WISD to be the assistant principal for WHS. When appointed to the principal position, he said he was excited to share the news with the community.
“It is with sincere pleasure and honor to become a member of this great school community. Woodville enjoys a rich history of academic and cultural excellence that is the result of a collegial partnership between the school staff and parents who provide a diversity of experiences for the students,” he said.
Zachary served as AP in Del Valle ISD in Austin, and he said that although that district was much larger than WISD, he finds that the child-centered approach to education is comparable.
“In addition, parents and staff who collaboratively work together each day for the students is the exemplary quality that attracted me to Woodville Independent School,” he said.
Zachary shared that his philosophy on education recognizes the different types of learners within an academic environment.
“My greatest initiative is to provide the leadership that will facilitate a school environment to provide differentiated instruction to meet the needs of each student to the best of our ability. The educational program must be academically challenging, engage each student by linking the curriculum to previous knowledge and experience, and also be exciting to promote further exploration of new ideas,” he said.
Throughout his career in education, Zachary has also served as a teacher and coach, which began in Jasper. He served as a middle school athletic coordinator and athletic director in the Austin area, prior to moving into administration. He also served as lead AP at Lincoln Middle School in Port Arthur, and continued as principal at North Avenue in Gonzales ISD, and later principal of a K-8 campus in Arizona.
