WARREN – The Lady Eagles flew into battle with their talons out on Tuesday night, Feb. 16, at the Warren High School Gymnasium, against the Buna Lady Cougars.
The first period focused around two hens as the Cougars’ defense seemed to pounce on #1, KK Foster, senior point guard, and #21 Apple Gasaway, sophomore shooting guard, at every opportunity. Buna committed 12 fouls to Woodville's three in the first half alone. Six were against KK yielding 11 points, Three targeted Gasaway yielding 4 points, and the last three fouls of the first half yielded only a single point, closing the first half with the Lady Eagles having 21 points to the Lady Cougars’ 34 points.
Throughout the second half, KK Foster continued to lead her team through the barrage of claws in: steals, shots on goal, and points on the board, as well as taking on the majority of the fouls. However, having Gabby Kirkwood #2, sophomore shooting guard, getting injured as the third period was winding down seemed to pivot the momentum. With ruffled feathers the Lady Eagles flew home in defeat, 31 to 56, finishing fifth in District.
