Lady Jackets continue to dominate on court

The Lady Jackets continued their winning streak this past week by sweeping both Leggett and Goodrich at home.

Leggetts scores were 25-0, 25-5, and 25-1. Marae Pounds led in kills with 16. Lily Read ended with 4 kills, 7 aces, and went 14/14 on the service line. Lily Payne had 4 kills. Lauren Citrano and Josie Pecina each picked up 2 kills while Ty Cochran, and Allie Ogden each had one. Kyli Handley led in aces with 14 and also went 24/24 on the service line. Emma Byrd had 12 aces and went 30/30 on the service line. Byrd also led assists with 28. Sydney Brock had 8 digs, 4 service receptions, one ace, and was also 100% on the service line with three. 

On Friday, Oct. 18 the Lady Jackets defeated the Goodrich Lady Hornets in the same manner with scores of 25-7, 25-5, and 25-2.

Once again Marae Pounds led the charge with 15 kills in 21 attempts with no errors. Lily Read had 6 kills, 6 aces, 2 solo blocks, and 3 service receptions. Lily Payne picked up 4 kills, 2 aces, and one dig. Lauren Citrano had 3 kills, 1 ace, 11/11 on the service line, two digs, and 3 service receptions. 

Emma Byrd added 28 assists, 2 aces, and 4 digs. Sydney Brock ended the night with 7 aces, 12 digs, and 3 service receptions. The JV squad also swept the Lady Hornets 25-10 and 25-2.

The Lady Jackets will only have one game this week on Friday, Oct. 25 at JP Johnson Gymnasium facing the Richards Lady Panthers. 6 seniors will be celebrated before the game beginning at 4 p.m. 

The Yellowjacket football team will start district off this week at home against the Apple Springs Eagles. Kickoff is scheduled for 7 p.m.
