The Lady Jacket softball team hosted Burkeville on Tuesday, March 17. Lillie Byrd, Joyanna Lopez, Sadie Garsee, and Jorja Barnes each had a 1.000 average.
Barnes had three hits while Byrd and Lopez had two and Garsee hit a double. Barnes, Tegan Toler, and Allie Ogden had three RBIs each. Lopez had two RBIs; Byrd, Garsee, Kendal Watton, Ty Cochran, Kennedi Wilson all helped with one RBI each.
The Lady Jackets racked up 17 runs in three innings to the Mustangs zero. Lillie Byrd scored three, Joyanna Lopez, Sadie Garsee, Jorja Barnes, Tegan Toler, Allie Ogden all had two runs while Ria Tullos, Ty Cochran, Kennedi Wilson, and Autumn Pachall scored one a piece. Garsee earned the win in the circle allowing one hit and zero runs, one strikeout and one walk.
Kennedi Wilson pitched one inning giving up zero hits, one strikeout and one walk.
This week the Lady Jackets host Zavalla on Tuesday, March 24 at 4:30 pm and then on Friday, April 27 they will travel to Corrigan to face the Lady Bulldogs at 5 p.m.
The Yellowjacket baseball team picked up a big win in Brookeland on Friday, March 20. Coltin Kosina finished with a 1.000 with one base hit driving in two runs, a sacrifice bunt scored another run. Kosina had 4 RBI’s and one stolen base. Greyson Rosencranz, Turner Johnson, and Bryson Swanson each had two hits, Jesse Bittick had one. Rosencranz, Johnson, Bittick, and Rex Gilzow each had one RBI. Jaxon Gay led stolen bases with three, Johnson and Swanson had two, Bittick, Jayse Gay, and Henry David each had one stolen base.
This week the Jackets will host Zavalla on Tuesday, March 24 at 4 p.m. On Saturday, March 28, the Jackets will host Big Sandy at 2 p.m.
The track teams traveled to Big Sandy for a meet on March 18. The boys team placed first overall. Kasen Citrano placed first and Rex Gilzow placed fourth in shotput. Ethan Gray placed first in high jump and fourth in long jump. Turner Johnson placed second in long jump and first in triple jump.
In discus, Kasen Citrano placed third, Rex Gilzow fourth.
In running events Jaxon Gay placed first in 100-meter and Greyson Rosencranz placed third. Ethan Gray placed first in 110m hurdles and 2nd in 200m hurdles.
Blake Zulpo was just behind him in second place for the 110-meter hurdles. In the 200-meter sprint, Turner Johnson placed second and Jayse Gay placed fourth.
The relay teams did very well placing first in the 4x100 with Greyson Rosencranz, Kasen Citrano, Jesse Bittick, and Jaxon Gay. The 4x200 team with Jesse Bittick, Kasen Citrano, Bryson Swanson, and Turner Johnson also placed first. In the mile relay Bryson Swanson, Henry David, Braysen Neal and Turner Johnson placed third.
In girls track Allie Ogden placed first in discus, Tegan Toler placed fourth. Jorja Barnes earned third in triple jump. Sadie Garsee placed third in 100-meter. Joyanna Lopez placed fifth in the 200-meter. The 4x100 with Jorja Barnes, Joyanna Lopez, Kennedi Wilson, and Sadie Garsee placed second. In the 4x200 with Tegan Toler, Kennedi Wilson, Joyanna Lopez, and Sadie Garsee placed third. The next track meet is on March 26, at Hull Daisetta with field events starting at 2 p.m.
